The London Borough of Hackney (LBH) website provides access to information and online requests about the priority services delivered by the council and its partners. Consequently, it is essential for the Council to maintain the site dynamically in order to deliver effective web-based services to the citizens it serves. The Council had previously maintained their web presence using an Obtree cms product, which had been declared obsolete, and it therefore became imperative for LBH to migrate to a modern and supported cms platform.
Following a competitive tender Clarity was awarded a contract to develop new Hackney Council websites and provide content migration services from the legacy Obtree cms platform to an OpenText enterprise cms environment. The following sites were included in the contract:
Clarity’s scope of work included creation of the blank sites (e.g. architecture, navigation, templates, etc.), content migration, redevelopment of existing bespoke functionality and user training on the new cms platform.
Clarity analysed the existing sites prior to the migration in order to establish the feasibility of an automated approach and subsequently used migration tools to successfully automate large parts of the migration process, encompassing approximately 5,500 pages.
Following successful completion of the initial websites, Clarity was asked to further enhance the Council’s web presence by developing a completely new website, which has been branded as Destination Hackney and has been designed to promote the community of Hackney and encourage tourism (http://home.destinationhackney.co.uk/).
We have continued to provide web design and development services for Hackney and we recently completed a new creative design for the Hackney Homes website; providing a modern and engaging user interface and making the new version of the site responsive and mobile friendly
